Mary Ruth Brooks Memorial Scholarship

Ruthbrooks
Community and educational went hand-in-hand for Mary Ruth Brooks. She was born and raised in St. Luke Community, just outside of Marshfield, and was a proud graduate of Marshfield High School. Mary Ruth attended what was then Southwest Missouri Teacher College and taught in single room country schoolhouse after her graduation.

She was a founding member of the Marshfield Public School Foundation and serviced as its president for many years. She was instrumental in brining the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to the children of the Marshfield R-1 School District and was a constant supporter.

Whether it was cheering on the Marshfield Bluejays sporting events, supporting a fundraising event for the school, or sitting in the Carl and Lessie Young Auditorium watching a student performance, children made Ruth Brooks happy. More than that, the success of the students made her even happier.

It is in the vain that this scholarship is made available to help MHS graduates move on to higher education. A one-time, non-renewable $1000.00 scholarship, awarded in $500.00 installments after proof of enrollment is submitted to the Marshfield Public School Foundation each semester in the first year. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university in which the student is enrolled.
